Apollo Knot doll

She's going to get a gold dress with lace around the neck.

Funny, high hairstyle from the 1830's, called an Apollo knot.

  2. This is one of the more pretty dolls I have ever seen, the way you paint her eyes is something unique, very much from your own magic. Congratulations for this one.

  4. I think her hair is a little funny, but frames her face quite nicely. Did you apply a layer of clear gloss to the doll? Looking forward to seeing her dress.

  5. Lizzie, I used several layers of matte varnish. And YES, her hair is bizarre! Here's an interesting link showing how to create these strange high hairstyles on a human: http://labricoleuse.livejournal.com/116796.html I think it's so interesting that dolls are used as historical reference for period costume design.
