Permelia

Permelia is wearing antique baby boots and an antique children's bonnet.  My mother made the smocked dress for my daughter many years ago.

Permelia has a plastic, flexible armature inside of her.  It helps her to pose.

Permelia has a cloth-pressed face and is painted with acrylics.  She is heavily crackled.

I found the little bonnet in my great grandmother's sugar chest.  It must have been worn by a beloved child.

Permelia needed a rest after all of the play time.

Midnight Rider

I've got to run to keep from hiding
And I'm bound to keep on riding
And I've got one more silver dollar
But I'm not gonna let them catch me, no
Not gonna let 'em catch the midnight rider.

Rotkappchen's play time

Four and a half inch Rotkappchen rides her chicken.  She has a wire armature sewn into her, to help her pose.

Rottkappchen takes a rest.

Rottkappchen climbs a tree.

Rotkappchen hears a noise, but she isn't afraid.   She decides to make a little visit.

Rottkappchen puts on her cape and goes to grandma's house.

Rottkapchen's dress is made from a 19th century quilt block of madder browns.

Minifred and her kitten carriage

Two fresh sculpts

These two dolls are getting packed up for their journey to Fredericksburg, where their fairy godmother (Edyth) will breathe life into them by painting them.  Then, they will return to me and I will complete them by making limbs and dressing them.

This one will get brown wispy hair.

This one will get red sausage curls.

Avare Ann and Isyphenia

Here are Avare Ann and Isyphenia.

The wind blew Isyphenia's skirt.

Avare Ann Patterson was the name of my third great grandmother.  She was born in 1817 in Adair County, Kentucky.  Isyphenia was the name of her older sister.  Their father, John Newton Patterson, was born in Belfast, Ireland in 1784.  Somehow, he ended up in Adair County, Kentucky.  It's funny how things work out.

Isyphenia's nickname was Icy.

Cactus photos are dangerous.
